Amy painted these small pieces of art. Her inspiration was American culture vs. immigrants. She is from Long Beach and is graduating this semester. She wants to teach in the future and possibly go to grad school. She used oil paint and pattern makeup for these pieces. I think her is in a simple way, beautiful.
Khara is working on her MFA in graphic design. She will be graduating this semester. This collection was inspired by the city of LA county. The graphic designs, she hopes, will one day be actual clothes people can wear. She got her BFA at Texas State, where she used to reside. She came to California for work.
So today I walk around campus with black pants and a black hoodie with the hood on (it was very hot today so I stood out to people). I walked up to a random girl today and asked her what her name was. She was really hesitant to tell me but ended up telling me anyways; her name was Anne. I asked her what she thought my major was and she said art. Then I asked her what she thought about me. She kind of laughed and said I’m not sure I really don’t know you. So then I told her this was a project and that I dressed odd on purpose. Then I re-asked her the questions I asked before and she said she human development because of this project. She also said she didn’t even think I went to school there so that’s why she was being vague with me, she was intimated. Other people when I was walking around didn’t stare a lot but they did glance over at me multiple times.
Ronald is from Downy but now resides in Huntington Beach. He has been drawing since he was young and imagines himself still drawing in the future. He especially likes to draw figures, like the one in this piece. He works at Moon Scoop animation as well as going to school. He was inspired to draw this collection of drawings based upon memories. It took him 4 semesters to finish this collection. I love the abstract quality of his artwork.
